Consequently, the Planning Commission worked diligently for months to draft an ordinance that will best meet the needs of the majority of residents.

The City has always enforced the seasonal parking restrictions: no parking on City streets November 1 — April 1. Where there is no curb, there is no parking within a distance of 20’ of the center of the usable roadway.

Last year the City Council adopted an ordinance amendment mandating that all vehicles must be parked on the homeowner’s property (i.e. not in the City right-of-way, between the sidewalk and the street or in the front yard) in an area specifically designated for parking. The amendment allows overnight parking in designated City-owned lots which are currently the lot to the north of the Post Office, the lot at the south east corner of Second and Elm, and the lot behind D & J Nails.

The CSPD will continue to enforce the State law which prohibits parking across a sidewalk.

For a complete listing of the rules and regulations and how they will affect you please review the following:

We are currently accepting donations of clean, gently worn gowns. By donating a short gown, you will receive a $50 tax deduction; long gowns receive a $100 tax deduction. Clean out your daughters’ closets before 12/31/11 in order to get your deduction in 2011. Clean gowns may be dropped off at City Hall, 66 S. Main, during normal business hours. Gowns may also be dropped off on Friday, January 6th at the CSHS media center during the home basketball game. Girls volunteering to work the sale will get to shop early AND earn community service hours. Call City Manager Christine Burns at 616.788.8945 or Linda Lehman at 616.970.1368 for more information.

All proceeds will be used for the $50K grant match for the Library construction fund.

The post office does not forward utility bills so if we do not have a forwarding address, you may not receive your bills in a timely manner. We also ask that you let us know when you return so that we may resume sending your bills to your normal address.

You also have the option of paying your bill in advance. The money will be credited to your account. This ensures there will be no late fees added to your utility account.

Please let Utility Billing Clerk Debbie Frederick know your forwarding address. You may call her at 616.696.1330 ext. 199; email her at utilityclerk@cityofcedarsprings.org or stop in at City Hall and speak to her in person.
