What does it mean to be the Red Flannel Town? It means We Celebrate Underwear (check out the Fan Page on Facebook) the first Saturday in October. Our little town is rich in history and there is more to Cedar Springs than just red underwear. Cedar Springs residents are friendly, unpretentious and proud of our heritage; just stop and ask anybody on the street!
When the economy is struggling in most places, our Planning Commission is still busy hearing site plans. Rite Aid is now open in their newly constructed building on 17 Mile Road and Meijer (located just across the expressway in Solon Township) opened in April 2009; Speedway’s renovation of their 17 Mile location is now complete after its reopening in January 2011 and the Cedar Spring Historical Museum put the finishing touches on an addition to their current museum. We mustn’t forget the Fred Meijer White Pine Trail that dissects our City. Runners, bicyclists and rollerbladers love the newly paved pathway and snowmobilers are welcome from Russell Road (just south of Cedar Springs) all the way to Cadillac. The City is putting the finishing touches on a new staging area located on West Maple Street. The staging area was constructed using a MDNRTF grant and will greatly enhance downtown Cedar Springs.
Stop and see us in Cedar Springs. We think you will find us a welcoming bunch!
