Council Member Pat Capek
Council Member Pat Capek has been a resident of Cedar Springs since 1975. She is currently serving her 4th term on the Cedar Springs City Council; where she held the position of Mayor Po-Tem on two separate occasions. She currently serves on the Cedar Springs Public Library Construction Committee and serves on the MML Elected Officials Academy Board and is a past president of MML Region III.
She is a long-time member and past president of the Cedar Springs Rotary Club, the Cedar Springs Women’s Club and has 20 years of service to the Red Flannel Festival Board under her belt. She has sewn 20 Red Flannel gowns over the years.
While Pat currently operates her seamstress/dress making business (Pat’s Original Sewing Room) out of her home, she spent more than 10 years operating “The Sewing Room” in Cedar Springs with business partner Dorothy Bishop.
She and her husband, Dick, have 3 children (Nancy, Jane, & Steve) and six grandchildren. In her free time Pat loves sewing, crafts, cooking, entertaining, reading (mostly history), theater, opera, symphonies, museums, and traveling.
Pat’s philosophy is that she wants to help whenever and wherever she can. She strives to make a difference and be instrumental in making life better.
