July Board of Review

ACT 14 of 1985, being section 211.53(b) of General Property Tax Laws, provides for correction of clerical errors and errors due to a mutual mistake of fact with respect to assessment roll figures and corrections to Principal Residence Exemptions, upon verification of the local assessing officer and approval by the Board of Review at a meeting called for that purpose.  On July 22, 2009, a meeting will be called for this purpose at 3:00 p.m. in the City of Cedar Springs Council Chambers.

Water Quality Report - 2009

The City’s Water Quality Report is now available in PDF format.  Paper copies are available at City Hall, Cedar Springs Public Library, USPO, and various businesses throughout the community.  Please call DPW Superintendent Jerry Hall if you have questions regarding the report. 696-1330 x 108.

Concerts in the Park

Drag your folding chairs out of storage, folks!  The Cedar Springs Area Parks & Recreation has lined up some first-rate musicians to perform this summer.  Mark your calendars for July 16 and August 20 for some great family entertainment at Morley Park. 

In case of inclement weather, the concerts will be moved to the CS Middle School.

Pool Regulations

Summer is upon us and pools seem to be cropping up all over town.  Before you purchase and install a pool, please make sure it complies with the City’s pool regulations.

Section 303

Swimming Pools, Spas and Hot Tubs

303.1 Swimming pools.  Swimming pools shall be maintained in a clean and sanitary condition, and in good repair.

 

303.2 Enclosures.  Private swimming pools, hot tubs and spas, containing water more than 24 inches (610 mm) in depth shall be completely surrounded by a fence or barrier at least 48 inches (1219mm) in height above the finished ground level measured on the side of the barrier away from the pool.  Gates and doors in such barriers shall be self-closing and self-latching.  Where the self-latching device is less than 54 inches (1372 mm) above the bottom of the gate, the release mechanism shall be located on the pool side of the gate.  Self-closing and self-latching gates shall be maintained such that the gate will positively close and latch when released from an open position of 6 inches (152 mm) from the gatepost.  No existing pool enclosure shall be removed, replaced or changed in a manner that reduces its effectiveness as a safety barrier.
